Core Guitar is designed with privacy in mind. The App does not require an account to function — you can use it as a guest. However, we may collect the following information you voluntarily provide:

  • Account Information: If you choose to create an account, we collect your email address and authentication credentials. You may also sign in with Google or Apple, in which case we receive your name, email address, and profile image as provided by those services.
  • Email Address: If you choose to subscribe to updates via the App or our website, we collect your email address. This is used solely to send you a verification email and notify you of new features, content, and releases.

Automatically Collected Information

The App may collect the following information automatically:

  • Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and device identifiers
  • Usage Data: Information about how you interact with the App, such as features used and frequency of use
  • Audio Data: When using the tuner feature, the App processes audio input from your device's microphone. This audio data is processed locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers or third parties.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the App's functionality
  • Authenticate your account and manage your profile
  • Process audio input for the tuner and exercise features
  • Send verification and update emails to subscribers

Data Storage and Security

Core Guitar processes and stores most data locally on your device. All audio processing for the tuner occurs entirely on your device and is not transmitted externally.

If you subscribe to email updates, your email address is stored securely on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure in the United States. We do not sell, share, or provide your email address to third parties. Your email is used only to send you Core Guitar updates and can be deleted upon request.

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, though no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

Third-Party Services

Core Guitar uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

  • App Store Providers: When you download the App through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, you are subject to their respective privacy policies
  • Firebase (Google): We use Firebase for account authentication. If you create an account, Firebase processes your authentication credentials and assigns a unique user identifier. See Firebase Privacy Policy
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS): Email addresses provided through our subscription service are stored using AWS services. AWS processes data in accordance with their privacy policy
  • PostHog: We use PostHog for product analytics to understand how features are used and improve the App. PostHog collects usage events (such as exercises completed and features visited), device information, and aggregated user properties (such as level and streak). Microphone Permissions

The App requires microphone access to provide the tuner and interactive exercise features. This permission is used solely for:

  • Detecting pitch and frequency of your guitar strings
  • Providing real-time tuning feedback
  • Detecting note accuracy, technique, and dynamics during exercises

Audio data is processed in real-time on your device and is not recorded, stored, or transmitted. You can revoke microphone permissions at any time through your device settings, though this will disable the tuner and exercise detection features.

Children's Privacy

Core Guitar is suitable for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App can be used without creating an account. If you are a parent or guardian and believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately so we can delete that information.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including:

  • The right to access your personal information
  • The right to request deletion of your personal information
  • The right to opt-out of certain data collection practices
